Playtime (101 x 74 cm) –1450 €
Playtime This painting was one of the very first large-scale artworks I ever created and was a real patience-test for me. There were a few times I wanted to give up or more or less needed to force myself to keep going. However, it was all worth it for my patience has improved incredibly thanks to these big and very detailed paintings (and thanks to me not giving up on them).
Is Anyone Home? The mood in this particular painting differs from all the other ones I’ve made. Usually everything I create is more or less happy and full of joy, but this one is quite gloomy. This was intentional, for I wanted this painting to raise questions in a person viewing it. That’s why even the title is a question. Are there questions in your mind now?
The Queen of the Jungle (32 x 36 cm)
The Queen of the Jungle Tigers remain one of my favorite animals when it comes to my art subjects. In this artwork, the main idea was to make the stripes of the tiger to be formed by the leaves.
Medusa (29 x 41) – 175 € ORIGINAL PAINTING SOLD
Medusa When I started sketching “Medusa” I only had the lady in my mind. Then, as I proceeded with the sketch she was accompanied with a cat, a crow and the spiders. This happens to me quite often though: the final idea of an artwork reveals itself to me only when I’m putting it on the paper.
Mermaid (20 x 35 cm) – 60 €
Mermaid I wanted to create a mermaid that was not too much of an “ordinary” one, for example, compared to the ones we see in cartoons. That’s why the tentacles came into the picture. That’s also the reason I decided to draw her completely naked, just like any other creature living underwater.
Patternecks (23 x 50 cm) – 100 € ORIGINAL PAINTING SOLD
Patternecks I generally like different graphic patterns and the spots of a giraffe felt like a perfect target for some pattern-design. This was one of the very first paintings I created after making the decision to make a living as an artist, and to me it’s fascinating to notice that if I was to re-create this painting now, I’d make the patterns way more complex.
Peacock (35 x 23 cm) – 100 € ORIGINAL PAINTING SOLD
Peacock. What I remember about creating this painting is that I actually wanted to have the peacock with his tail spread open, but considered it as too much work and effort. Needless to say, this is one of my early creations, painted before Jasu Wonder World Company was official. I hadn’t yet started creating my large-scale paintings and had yet to develop my patience and ambition.
Pegasus (36 x 50 cm) – 180 €
I didn’t plan on making this horse so blue. The reason it ended up being that way is that I only used blue for the shading, and the first color layer of the horse was too dark to start with. However, rather than calling these kind of things mistakes, I like to think of them as steps that I have to take along the way to improve. I’m happy with the way the final painting turned out and now, I have learned to combine different colors to deepen the shadows of my paintings in a way that brings more life to the overall color scheme.
