And so we continue the journey through the remaining calendar illustrations. This time I give you the wip material of October, enjoy!
On the right there's a picture of the original quick sketch the illustration is based on. At first, there was only one kid involved, and I thought I'd make him a boy. But when I started to sketch the outlines of the illustration on watercolor paper, I noticed there was plenty of space for me to use, so I decided to add another kid in there as well, and make the "main character" girl because, let's be honest here, I know I would've wanted to to play the noble knightess when I was a kid. ;)
Also, I was having a blast adding all the small dino-toys into the illustration. I loved such toys as a kid. I didn't have any of my own, but luckily I had some friends who did. I still remember the joy of getting my hands on one of those.
