The Story Behind My Most Popular Painting

It's been about two years since I created my so far most popular painting, "Firefoxes". In this blog post I want to bring up the reasons I believe why it is so popular among people of all ages. The popularity of these happy foxes is based on the fact that it is the most bought design on all the products that I have. It does not matter which form of a product it is; t-shirt, magnet, print or card, this fox picture always sells. People almost seem unable to resist it.

Now, let's go back to the time I actually made this painting. From the very first sketch that I drew on the paper, I clearly recall and incredibly happy feeling that I had about this painting. This is nothing exceptional for it happens all the time, but with this painting I remember the feeling remaining and lingering for longer than it usually does. So, the very first hours painting this piece I was feeling like the happiest person on earth. I believe this happiness is the main thing that attracts people to my art. I believe that it gets transferred into the paintings I create, and I get to hear about it constantly; how people can't help but feel happy seeing my art.

Another thing, and a more conscious one, that was very important to me when painting these foxes, was the look on the face of the fox with his eyes open. To me, that was the most crucial part of the painting; the way the other fox is looking at his friend. To that simple gaze I wanted to compress all that happiness, love and gratitude that one can have for another person.

Then, of course, the third reason I believe this painting has had such a break-through is... well, the foxes. Everyone seems to love them.

That said, let me present the work-in-progress pictures of the painting in question, you can also see a time-lapse video of its full painting process on Jasuwonderworld YouTube channel.
