It's been 7 months since the completion of this commission, and finally Jasu is here to share it on her blog!
This commission was another pet portrait, but this time it wasn't just facial portrait but I got to paint the whole cat and a pretty detailed background as well!
Without further ado, let's get to the creation process of this painting!
Here's the very first quick sketch I made for the commissioner after receiving a description of what they wanted the painting to look like. The sketch was approved right away so no further adjustments were needed.
Here's the "official" sketch of the cat I used as a reference on the watercolor paper. You can see some of the reference photos of my beautiful model here as well.
A couple of pictures of the soft watercolor pencil lineart I draw on the watercolor paper before starting to paint. This lineart dissolves into the watercolor so you won't see any of it once the painting's finished.
Above are all the pictures I took of the painting process (and for once I remembered to take more than 3-4 pics). Below is the finished, scanned illustration, so you can see better how the colors of the painting actually look like. The original painting is A3-sized (42 x 30 cm) and this beauty is also available as a card on Wonder SHOP.
