Cat Portrait - Commission
So far, I have had the chance to create portraits of humans and dogs, but this time it was, for the first time, a cat.
This particular cat had had a special relationship with pansies, and the commissioner wanted to have her furry friend portrayed with them, thus I got the idea of the kitty being surrounded with these flowers, holding one in her mouth.
Since this commission was a portrait of a real cat, I used a photo reference to paint the cat, the background was from imagination. The painting process was my usual routine; a light watercolor pencil sketch followed by a light layer of watercolor and then the final, detailed top layers. The last touch for me is always the little white details and "beauty spots" I make with white gouache.
Here, on Jasu Wonder World YouTube channel you will find a time-lapse video of the painting process of this portrait.
