Formed by Water - Commissioned Watercolor Painting

back-blog5

Before Christmas I received a commission of an A1 sized watercolor painting. The client wanted to have a front view of the head of a stag and a transformation effect I often use on my paintings, meaning that the living creatures smoothly transform into water, plants or other elements. That was basically all the instructions I got and the rest was up to me.

I decided to make the head of the stag to be forming out of the surface of the water. In addition to this I made flowers grow on his antlers.
As always, especially at the beginning I was very excited about creating this piece of art. Towards the end of the painting process it's always more about being very patient (or as I like to say, being very stubborn) with all the details. Just the flowers and the leaves growing on the antlers of the stag took me two days to paint. All in all this artwork took me approximately 35-40 hours to finish.

Watercolor Painting - Formed by Water (commission)

This took me about 35-40 hours to finish. The size of the original painting is about 90 x 60 cm. Enjoy the video and feel free to share and comment!
